Chevy is a cow that as a rancher forces some very tough decisions, but as an animal lover, those decisions are a no brainer. Chevy was purchased by our son after he was able to catch calves in the calf scramble program at Houston, Austin and San Antonio. During 2021/2022 Chevy competed at a number of Major shows. She finished second in class at the Houston Calf Scramble show as well as a 2 nd during her class of the JR. Santa Gertrudis show. Chevy finished 3 rd at the Heart of Texas show and San Antonio. Chevy had a top five finish at the State Fair of Texas and was name Reserved Grand Champion at our local county show. Unfortunately, just before the Austin show, Chevy develop some complications delivering her calf and the result was damage that has prevented her from future calving. While many times that would be a driving factor to move on from her in the ranching business, Chevy had managed to show her worth in other ways. Chevy is a herd leader, always comes when called and is a calming force during stressful ranch operations. Chevy’s ability to lead and rally her herd mates, makes having her to get the group moving without drama makes cattle handling a one man operation.
