Who we are

Owned and operated by Zach and Laura Beagle, what started as a small family herd has grown into a true multi-generation effort. Their children grew up on the ranch, started families of their own, and still come together when it is time to work cattle. Cattle working days turn into full family gatherings, with kids and grandkids helping wherever they can. It is not unusual to see babies in playpens set up right beside the chutes, because ranching is not just work here, it is a way of life.

The Beagle family has built their program around both registered and commercial cattle, with a special emphasis on Santa Gertrudis and Hereford genetics. Each animal has a specific role to play, whether it is in the show ring, the pasture, or on the plate. A small number of registered Santa Gertrudis heifers make it into the show world, while bulls are sold as registered herd sires or culled and integrated into the beef program. The Santa Gertrudis and Hereford cross cattle can also be registered as Star 5, giving them the versatility to compete in the show ring, serve as replacements, or enter the food chain.

The family’s philosophy is simple: quality over quantity. Rather than chasing numbers, Lazy Dog focuses on raising cattle that are sound, dependable, and versatile. Their animals represent the best of what ranching is meant to be. From producing registered show animals to building strong replacement stock and providing wholesome beef for families, the Beagle family takes pride in raising cattle that reflect hard work, tradition, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
